An Exhibition that visualises personality

Logo.gif

Persona is an interactive spatial exhibition that aims to create a reflective and introspective experience that gives individuals the opportunity to better understand themselves through a series of visual propositions.

Individuals navigate a series of rooms where each decision reveals a segment of their personality, when they arrive at the end of their journey they can acquire an app as a takeaway that presents their results and a summary of who they are based on their actions and compared against their starting comparing personality through a nature and nurture lens simultaneously.

A physical sorting system where each decision helps identify their personality

Introversion
Extraversion.

The first room tests the dichotomy of Extraversion - Introversion with the core idea and visual device of reflection. This initial room is about self reflection, individuals are first greeted with a one-mirror showing a reflection of themselves.

A one way mirror divides the room in two, on one side two mirrors face each other, when an individual walks through they are standing at the centre of a visual paradox and become the centre of their own world symbolising extraversion and an attraction to external stimuls.

On the other side is the transparent side of the mirror, when an individual takes this path they can see into the other side and can see the visual paradox however they don’t appear in the paradox and merely experience it passively rather than actively being the centre of it symbolising introversion and a tendency for internal experiences and not wanting to be the centre of attention.

Sensing
Intuition.

The second room tests the dichotomy of Sensers - Intuitives, this focuses on how we digest information and is visualised with the core theme of perspective. The room has messages painted across the walls, when standing on one of the dots one of the messages becomes clear and the direction they’re looking in leads to the next dot revealing the next message and so on.

If an individual takes a step by step approach they are classified as sensing. If they are able to understand the information holistically without working progressively to the end and skip any number of the illuminated dots they are classified as initiatives.

At the end of the room the path splits where messages asking how individuals approach the room are presented.

Thinking
Feeling.

The third room tests the dichotomy of Thinkers - Feelers, this focuses on a persons preference for how they make decisions, either by objective logic or subjective feeling. This is tested through a series of images that hold both logic and subjective truths.

The individual is greeted by a small view hole looking onto a series of flashing images, the individual is asked to make one conclusion about the images and then step away. All the images have 2 things in common, firstly they are all wearing red symbolising the notice of objective logic, secondly all the people have a sad expression symbolising the notice of subjective feeling.

The room then splits in two and the individual walks past the flashing images behind a one way mirror.

Judging
Perceiving.

The fourth room tests the dichotomy of Judgers - Perceivers, this focuses on how you interact with the world outside yourself, either in a structured (judging) or flexible (perceiving) manner.

To test this the room is divided in two with a physical pattern that surrounds the individual, one side there is a structured and rigid pattern symbolising judging, on the other there is a fluid and flexible pattern symbolising perceiving, individuals simply walk toward one side they feel drawn too.

Personal
Gradient.

The final room is symbolic of the individuals journey and their personality they’ve uncovered. With each decision they’ve made along the way the gradient projected onto the floor of the room contains a different variation. In the centre there is a single plinth with a unique QR code, when scanned with a phone it opens the Persona companion app as a takeaway from the experience. Each room has a unique QR code that has their personality type registered so that the app understands the journey they’ve gone on.

The
App.

The Persona companion app is an extension of the exhibition that brings clarity to the decisions they’ve made that have illustrated their personality. It aims to compare nature and nurture perspectives of personality where the results from the exhibition based on the Myer Briggs theory represent nurture as these results can change overtime as individuals develop, on the other side we look to astrology as an analogue for nature as the divination of personality through the stars is an age old tradition that is decided at birth.
